Beacon Home Services came out today to clean the outdoor condensing unit and further evaluate concerns with the HVAC system struggling to maintain the desired indoor temperature during periods of high outdoor temperatures. Customer shared that the system has had difficulty keeping up when outdoor temperatures are especially hot. I checked the refrigerant temperatures and pressures and found that the system had been slightly overcharged during my previous visit. I recovered approximately 3 lbs. of R-410A refrigerant to bring the system charge back into the proper operating range. I also discussed that the Honeywell filter media currently being used can be somewhat restrictive to airflow. I recommended looking into Air Filter Superstore, which offers high-quality MERV-rated filters designed to provide good filtration while allowing better airflow through the system. Since this is a zoned HVAC system, I also recommended using the continuous fan setting for the upstairs zone only and leaving the downstairs zone fan set to Auto. This can help improve air circulation and temperature balance without unnecessarily affecting operation of the downstairs zone. The outdoor condensing unit was cleaned, the refrigerant charge was corrected, and the system was tested. The HVAC system is operating properly on my departure.
